Holy moly! Hello to all my new Instagram friends!

Holy moly! Hello to all my new Instagram friends! Apparently I’m not the only one who wants to be a member of the Warriors Senior Dance team. Competition at the auditions is gonna be stiff! (31 million of us and counting.)

I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Deva (pronounced Day-va not Diva thankfully!). When I was a kid I just wanted a normal name like Jennifer or Brook. But alas …

I now have two kids of my own (who actually like their names! #momscore). I started making funny mom content for the interwebs in 2006 when I found that motherhood was INSANE and not at all as advertised. I’m like the OG of mom videos and all my work was driven by feeling like I was drowning in laundry and snot and messes and no one else was admitting they were losing their minds and I felt like a total failure as a mom.

But miraculously when I admitted I was drowning, I found a whole community of other parents who felt like they were drowning and we trauma bonded.

So welcome new peeps to our crazy corner of the internet where we admit life is hard but decide to laugh about it instead of constantly cry. I’m so happy you’re here!

Seventeen years ago this beautiful girl came into

Seventeen years ago this beautiful girl came into our lives and forever changed them. Gabe became daddy. And I became mommy. An identity that has defined my life in all-consuming ways I never dreamed possible.

I am mommy.

And I am honored to be *her* mommy. It’s been so special to watch this beautiful girl grow up into the incredible young woman she is today. She’s smart and kind and creative and cool and witty and sweet and silly and such a deeply thoughtful person.

I told her last night (as we were listing to Taylor Swift and I was bawling my eyes out to “Never Grow Up”) that she’s my favorite person and I am so deeply grateful to be her mommy.

Happy Birthday to my beautiful daughter. Thank you for defining my life in the most profound way. It’s wonderful to watch you soar! ❤️
